ASG Programs

The African School of Governance (ASG) is a graduate institution based in Kigali, Rwanda, focused on developing leadership, governance, and public policy capacities across Africa. Its curriculum is deeply rooted in African history, perspectives, and real-world governance challenges, while aiming to meet global academic standards.

ASG is structured around three pillars: Education, Research, and Policy Engagement. The Education pillar offers both degree and non-degree programmes for students at different stages of their leadership journey.

Master of Public Administration (MPA)

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) at ASG is a two-year program designed to equip emerging and mid-career professionals with the skills, knowledge, and leadership needed to drive impactful changes in governance, policy, and development across Africa.

Executive Masters in Public Administration

A 2-year, part-time executive master’s in public policy for senior leaders, offering integrated learning and leadership development through hybrid short courses, open to ~200 senior executives per year.

Executive Education programmes

A selection of flexible, open-enrollment and customized courses for established African leaders across public, social, and private sectors.

What languages will be used in instruction, and what other language requirements are there?

Primary instruction is in English. ASG requires proficiency in English and also requires students to learn at least one additional African Union language.

Admission requirements vary by program. Please refer to the Admissions section on our website for detailed information or contact the Admissions Office for assistance.

No. Currently, ASG does not accept transfer students into its programmes. Applicants must join as Year 1 students.

Application deadlines and response times vary by intake. ASG reviews applications on a rolling basis. Acceptance emails occur no later than certain dates stated in each intake’s schedule. Potential students should check the Admissions page for the specific intake.
